Does anyone recognise this signature please?
« on: December 26, 2021, 03:13:25 PM »
Can anyone make out the signature on this 4" high vase please?  Its also marked with its date 1975 and has a 4 pronged pontil mark.
I can make out the last part which is glass but haven't a clue about the first part.
TIA :)

Thanks for getting back so quickly ;)  However I don't think its from Ourglass Cockington.  Their website says they were formed in 1995 but my vase is definitely marked 1978 and the bases of their vases are finished differently from mine with its distinct 4 prong pontil mark.  I think the first letter could be a H, however searches just bring up masses of actual hour glass shaped vases.  I thought it might read Hausglass but this doesn't bring anything up in searches.  We've tried different combinations of letters without success, and we each (three of us) see the letters differently ::)

There's a great video on their website of glass being blown.

I've got a bit of Ourglass from '03. (bought new, from the Strathearn Gallery in Crieff)
The base is roughly ground with a small shiney deep patch.
The writing of Ourglass looks very, very similar.
The letters are formed the same way, with s's looking like snake shaped "s" typed ones, not normal cursive written ones of an upright slope with a loop coming down from it.
My vase has the initials P.T. after the date too.

I know nothing of them using a 4 pronged tool, I do not know if your bottle vase is consistent with their work. They are a brother and sister set-up. :)
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)
