Arte Nuova Sommerso Vase
(1/1)
NevB:
This is in a slightly unusual magenta, uranium green and clear colourway. Unsigned but almost certainly by Arte Nuova/ Pustetto & Zanetti form between 1954 and 1965 ish, thanks to 20th Century Glass for the info. Height 6".
chopin-liszt:
What a completely joyful beast. ;D
NevB:
Thanks Sue, I love the colour combination. It wasn't cheap but it wasn't expensive either ;D. It's quite hefty at nearly 2lbs.
rocco:
Very nice vase!
Here is one of the very first pieces from my collection, we never really found a definite ID: >> https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,39313.10.html
Arte Nuova was also mentioned in that thread...
It has quite a strong green glow under UV as well (and the glass looks greenish in sunlight), but if it contains Uranium I don't know.
What seems quite distinctive in both our pieces is the wide beveled edge to the base -- a feature not commonly seen in Murano glass.

Thanks Michael, here's a link to the website where I found the ID, I don't see any reason to query it. Their pieces do have a bevelled base.

If your vase has a green tint in sunlight and also glows I would think it almost certainly contains uranium. ;D
