bat20:
Hi , this I’m fairly sure is a P/Y weight from the his early days ,it has a couple of big annealing cracks but for £2 I’m more than happy to give it a home !,can I ask if these weights were given away or sold from the workshop ?,I’ve read they had problems with it in early days .

Sach:
I cannot answer your questions but wish to say that cracks such as these can appear in a weight at any time, even years after production.  They are however most common immediately upon removal from the annealer.  Prior to the use of digital controls the control of annealing kiln temps came down to judgement and experience.  It's not surprising that the failure rate was greater than in modern systems.
