Deciphering a signature on a controlled bubble vase
« on: May 24, 2022, 11:20:05 AM »
Hello everyone, can anyone help me identify this signature? It is on a turquoise controlled bubble vase (measurements below) but I am unable to add more pictures without loosing too much on the foto quality. And since my main problem is the signature (I have received numerous suggestions as to what company might have manufactured the vase, but without the maker it is of little help). Does anyone in this forum recognize the signature or can anyone decipher it?
Vase measurements: 11 cm tall (4.33") and 10 cm (3.94") wide at the widest point. It weighs 871 grams and was sourced in Switzerland.

Thank you!

Welcome to the board. You can add four pictures at a time of up to 125kb each. Try rubbing some coloured powder over the signature to help it show up. Cinnamon perhaps

Thanks! I tried but it gives me an error each time I try to upload more than 125 kb to the whole message. I have also already rubbed cinnamon and baby powder on it, it doesn't change anything unfortunately. This is really the best I can do. My hope is that if someone knows this maker, s/he will recogognize the signature even if it is the way it is. At least the surname looks like a real word...

Hi and welcome. It looks like it should be readable doesn’t it. I had a difficult signature recently and the powders didn’t help. In the end I viewed it through a loupe and redrew/copied the signature on paper. Looking through a loupe you can see where the ‘pen’ starts and stops or goes over itself and see how the ‘pen’ flowed etc. Once copied on paper it was much easier to decipher and it was more of a squiggle than yours.

Someone will probably come along later and recognise the glass or signature as it is though, but that’s less fun ;D

I don't have a magnifying glass but will probably have to get one soon...

Everything else hasn't worked so far so might just as well try this.

Next step: Appointment with a Tarot reader :)

Again, I'm not sure if WMF Perlora are signed, but maybe worth a look.
