Heavy Textured smoked glass vase any ideas who made it???
« on: August 27, 2022, 11:55:11 AM »
This is a heavy mould blown vase which has different textured designs around the vase
these are fairly mid century in my views, The base has a large cog wheel foot and a polished
pontil scar with a good amount of wear around the edge of the base. The glass is smoke in color
7" tall nearly 2 kg in weight.

Some similarity with designs by Wiktor Berndt for Flygsfors, one possibility anyway.

Maybe Fåglaviks Glasbruk?

They did lots of 'textured' pieces but not been able to find my usual references for them.
This one came up on Pinterest - it's similar but I cannot say whether or not the attribution is correct I'm afraid:

Hmm, I've found my reference source and it's not on there unfortunately. Although it's fairly extensive it may not cover all their designs ever made.  That said I'm not entirely sure if the green was a green they used. Their greens seem a little more verging on grassier greens rather than forest greens if you know what I mean.

Funnily enough following on from John's post about Flygfors, there seems to have been a  link between Flygfors and Fåglaviks in Paul Kedelv.

Thanks to you both once again for your great insight and knowledge i would describe
the way the glass is made and feels weight wise is very reminiscent of the Ruda Glassworks
Blue pieces that are often described as Brutalist in nature they are a Swedish company maybe
we are getting nearer in the pieces origins i am sure it will eventually be known fingers crossed :)
Thanks for great information too

Alsterfors also produced similar, there is a Swedish theme here... I have a vague memory of an old design from Mats Jonasson along these lines, perhaps for Maleras but equally I could be barking up the wrong tree with that one (or just barking)!
