What do you want to know about Percival Vickers?

neilh:
An example of the continuing work going into this. Last month I was fortunate to be given 8 crates of Manchester glass to density test and photograph from collectors in the area. Each piece was dry weighed, then wet weighed to get a density value, then photographed for the book. Density charts for each company are essential for helping to narrow down attributions of speculative pieces.

Here we have a Percival Vickers uranium plate from the Colonial suite (1869 reg) at the start of the process.

Just to let you all know, as we enter another year, this book is still on its way. These things always take longer than expected, and perhaps that's a good thing, as I'm still finding out new information on Manchester glass almost every week, it's a big topic. I intend to have the rough draft complete in the next 2 months and then it's a case of how long it takes to "typeset" it for an Amazon self-published release. Some time in 2026 I would say, with a second book on the rest of Manchester glass loosely aiming for 2029.

Including a pic here of PV celery 182 (I do have much better photos lined up for the book, this was an early attempt to light up an engraved pattern).
There will be more cut & moulded coverage than you might expect in the book, it's not all pressed glass from Manchester, though it sometimes seems that way!

Do you know about the Science Museum Group?  I'm assuming you do.

I'd never heard of them until I came across the John Ford Holyrood glass samples online.

Very interesting group especially since there are not items to view online that perhaps might have not been publicly available before:

And some great photographs easy to enlarge many to see the details e.g.:
