Vaseline and Cranberry Glass Dish
« on: December 08, 2022, 07:35:19 PM »
This lovely little 10cm. wide dish has a yellow/green uranium base, vertical vaseline stripes and bowl, a cranberry glass rim and polished pontil. There are some similar online with various attributions, I'm leaning towards Richardson, but it could be another Stourbridge maker. The square shape seems unusual. Date 1880-1900.

Walsh did use this shape, there are a couple of examples already on the board in one topic but I can't find it at present, one was mine pretty sure this one belonging to Christine was another:

John, I've had a look through Reynold's Walsh book and can't see anything similar, also nothing in Hajdamach. Christine I hadn't thought of a salt but there are some similar ones shown here as marmalade/jelly(jam) dishes.

The first two are Walsh, the shade is a guess.

The preserves are much bigger than yours. The style is found as a salt though: I have one http://lustrousstone.co.uk/cpg/displayimage.php?pid=1249
