Stumped on this one.  Matt finish inside and out, points of corners are polished. 10cm high and across.

Daum by the look of it. Perhaps 1920s or 30s in date.

  Have you got magic glasses, John? I was contemplating trying to translate runes.
I did dismiss Japanese and Chinese scripts, eventually.

The piece itself resembles ancient Greek glass, I wonder if they designed the mark to also look like Greek lettering?

The signature is wheel cut (helps with a date) which I guess gives it some of it's character (no pun...). Less magic glasses Sue but it looked 'French' and early 20C at first glance, Suzy's third image shows the shape of the signature well and it looks right for Daum Nancy. Suzy's fourth photo is almost too close and detailed!

It's an "impressionist" signature.
