Ekimp:
Hi. Is the design definitely engraved or is it sandblasted?

Anne:
Hi Steve and all. A bit more info for you...

Ivo Haanstra's excellent little book (Miller's glass fact file A-Z) states that the B means it's a vase (actually "blomglas" i.e. a flower vase).

I found your vase pattern 882 in the 1970 Strombergshytten catalogue on here (page 6) https://bergdala-glastekniska-museum.se/nedladdning/strombergshyttan/BGM_01_722-strombhytt-1970-80-tal-kat.pdf and on page 24 of the same catalogue your C859 is shown as the engraved boat design on the vase.

That is a much more comprehensive reply than mine Anne. :)
I checked in my Swedish factories book and there is the start of a number run in 1954 (642) which ends in 1959/60 at 972.
That's about the end of the information in that book.
Maybe some reclassification along the way?
Tim

It's engraved. Quite deeply in places, and feels a bit "3D". The shields along the boat are polished to clear.

Thanks Anne :-)

I'd been meaning to get a copy of Ivo's book for ages... now ordered.

Yes, I'd found the vase shape in that catalogue, but hadn't realised that there were designs further down, so thanks for that info. The C859 design is slightly different to my vase - mine has no seagulls, and the waves are different, so either a slightly different version, or maybe there was a degree of artistic license allowed?
