ID Help Please - Sherry Glass???
« on: April 02, 2023, 02:41:18 AM »
Dear All,

I have been having great fun trying to identify this glass but to no avail. It is:

Height - 15.5cm
Foot Diameter - 6.9cm
Rim Diameter - 7.5cm

I know nothing about glass and bought four of these for my wife (and her wine) quite cheaply. Please tell me if I am wrong but I think they are sherry glasses (after some research on the Internet).

They ring beautifully when lightly tapped but I imagine them to be 1980s/1990s copies of something older. Of course, I have no idea!

Many thanks,

Erakis408

Have you carefully examined the base for faint marks.  The cutting reminds me of Webb & Corbett.  There mark is often quite faint and may only be partial.

The photo is their typical touch mark.

I rather think this is a wine glass not a sherry - it is rather too large, but not large enough kfor a goblet.

Thankyou Ross. I bought them as wine glasses and my wife was adamant they were for wine, not sherry. She, as always, was right.

I will have a good look at Webb and Corbett and see what I can find.

Many thanks,
