Bohemian opaque white goblet ?
« on: April 24, 2023, 01:46:49 PM »
Hi ,This 20cm ht goblet is fairly heavy with a flat rim and well done small arris .There is good wear on the base and a snake like green glass trail around the stem ,I’m guessing last quarter of the 20th century ?.There are tooling marks visible on the bowl and within the glass are small white fragments of pigment here and there…any thoughts on possible makers and age ,thanks .

I’ve tried to take an image of the tooling ,it’s the sort you would expect on older glass ,but I’m not sure in this case ..you can just about make out fish shaped tooling marks on this image running horizontal and vertical .

I'm not suggesting it is as I really have no idea at all, but the opaline and transparency of it reminds me slightly of these by Fritz Heckert:

Thanks m,..yup I think finding the maker is going to be a tricky one !,A date maybe more possible and I haven’t nailed that down in my mind yet .The foot is exactly the same diameter as the rim and I’m wondering about when this type of trail they used kicked off…maybe the jade colour of the trail may help?

date wise I think it's more likely early 1900s or earlier,  than last quarter 20th century.  Did you mean last quarter 19th century?

Those spots/bubbles crop up a lot:

The linked topic in that thread has more examples. Not certain whether air bubbles or not but my impression was they are something else.

More spots:
