Amber and white trail vase - ID please
« on: May 14, 2023, 06:14:59 PM »
I picked up this fine vase. Amber with white diagonal lines and a frilled base. I feel that it is old but can't find anything on the net. Someone said that it could be Nailsea. The glass is thin. Any of our members on here able to ID it please? Thank you as always for any imput/help.

Bohemian I suspect from the style and the ground rim. Definitely not Nailsea

It has no pontil mark so the rim will have been cut

Hello all, the rim is indeed cut, but is very level and neatly finished. I am not sure if it has been repaired but looking closely, it doesn't look as if it has been repaired. A mystery. Thanks for the help folks.

Not a total mystery. It's almost certainly Bohemian and the rim is finished correctly

Has the look of a bit of late Victorian Welz.

John

Thank you Christine and John. I do see the likeness to Welz, John. Plenty of images of Welz items online and some similarities.

I don't think it is Welz though: I will ask "the" expert to look
