Georgian Cut and Engraved Rummer
« on: April 08, 2024, 11:47:53 AM »
I was quite pleased  ;D ;D ;D to find this in a local house clearance/junk shop. It is identical to this one on the Scottish Antiques site, except that it weighs 360gms.

Hi,
Looks in good condition for the age, end of the 18th early 19th century. Is the pontil ground?
Lucky find, wish there was an outlet like that near me!

Hello Keith Mick, yes it has a ground pontil, it's in perfect condition and rings beautifully. As with many of these glasses the foot would have been made by a less skilled worker and is actually heavy and crude compared to the bowl.

Hi,
I like to browse charity shops and car boots looking for old bits of glass. It's amazing what you can occasionally come across, although the trend for "boutique" style charity shops hasn't helped.
Good luck with your future searches,
Keith Mick
