French Uranium Opaline Vase
« on: April 29, 2024, 02:16:53 PM »
I think this 10" vase is either by St. Louis or Baccarat, in green uranium and white "pāte de riz" glass. It has probably been cut down as the rim is ground and not the usual fire polished finish, although the sides of the top section are straight and not curved as I might expect. The bottom of the top section is also closed off where it meets the green and the base is quite wide at 5" for a vase of this height. There's not one like it in Christine Vincendeau's book.

The green body has vertical facets as well.
Strange shaped top.  I does look as though it might have been cut down from some kind of trumpet shape perhaps?

flying free, yes it's faceted and has the remains of gilding down the edges of the facets and a ring of it around top and bottom. I was thinking a trumpet shape too.
