I have sad news. Ivo Haanstra recently died while on a visit to Scotland in connection with his husband Andy's work commitments. Ivo had suffered with ill health for many years but his death was sudden and unexpected.  Ivo was the author of Miller's Glass Fact File A-Z and The Blue Henry

I had heard via a grapevine. A terrible loss. He taught so many of us so much when we arrived here as newbies. I will miss him terribly.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Thank you for posting this Christine. Angela and I had just heard on the grapevine also but we hadn't any confirmation or details. Many condolences to Andy and their wider families.

Ivo was one of the stalwarts of this board, he's been here since its inception, and was a valued member of it and of the committee that helps oversee it. He leaves us a legacy of his glass knowledge and wisdom, not only in his glass books, but also here on the board, he will be greatly missed.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Oh my, I've only just seen this. I'm so very sorry to hear this.   My condolences to his family.
Ivo was so generous with his knowledge and time and he will be terribly missed.  Very sad news.
