Taussaunt? Pot
(1/1)
NevB:
Taussaunt glass has been discussed here before and may still be a bit of a mystery. This one is in uranium glass and isn't marked but it has been speculated that the design is possibly Bernsdorf, being this side of the Atlantic that seems possible. Also found at the same time a Bagley "Queen's Choice" 5" powder pot and a Walther "Greta" 14cm. pot.

Hi Nev, sorry for the late reply.
When I was trying to I.D the bowl below I read some of the discussion here about the Taussaunt mystery. I eventually found it following the Bernsdorf lead from the discussion. It's on Pamela's Pressglas site in the Bernsdorf catalogue for 1937-38.
Yours looks like Taussaunt version with the square peg feet but the lid but the Bernsdorf version only has four Rhomboid(?) feet. Both lids look identical in design and I wonder if the diameter is the same.
Mine is 13.5cms.
Sorry about the coin the photo is from an old for sale ad.!!
theElench:
And a photo of one of the feet.
NevB:
Mine is 13.5cm, too but I don't think the lid is identical, the layers on top appear to be rounded, mine are squared off. The finials also look different. I'm still undecided whether mine's a European one or an American version.
theElench:
Yes, taking a closer look you're right on both counts. So we just have two pots that look very similar but where there is little that is directly comparable.
One or other of the company's designers could have seen and liked one design and then designed something very similar for the other company. So no real connection at all ?
