I.D. please. Vaseline/Urdaium/ Fenton/ Or
« on: Yesterday at 03:39:55 PM »
Hi,

Bought this today, and was struck by the colour. I have never been drawn to Vaseline Glass, and do not know if this glows in the dark or not yet. It's a lovely shape, with a pleasing pattern, and a Rough broken pontil.

Any ideas or assistance, as always, greatly appreciated.
Thanking you.

:) I very much doubt this will glow under uv, it's just swirly yellow glass, but a very nice shade of yellow.
I think you have a snapped off or broken pontil scar there, what we call a rough pontil mark or scar is one that has been ground out, roughly, but not smoothed and polished further after that.
The piece reminds me of a mystery greyish blue swirly bottle I have, but am still absolutely clueless about. The two pieces are similarly thick and the rims are pretty much the same.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Thankyou, all adds to the mystery. I rather like it, and I think it's a keeper.
I love the fact every piece has a story. My pontil knowledge is a bit rusty, so thankyou for the clarification too.

Definitely no uranium there (and uranium doesn't glow in the dark, as it's not phosphorescent. It does glow under UV light though). Your vase looks like a studio piece to me
