Mdina Frosted Vase
« on: November 07, 2025, 02:19:39 PM »
I had doubts about this but now think it's OK. From other posts I believe it's called the "Strap Frosted Range". It's 9" tall and to the naked eye rather dull, sadly one of the side fins has been broken off and glued on.

:) It's a side-stripe bottle. I can't tell if it's Tiger or Marble though, because I can't see the design colours clearly. The frosting isn't helping.

Thanks Sue, here's a backlit photo which shows it better, the blues and greens don't really show up.

:) In Tiger the colours are deeper set as well as being deeper in tone, and you can make out volume within the internal strapping. In marble, the colours are all really in one layer, flat on the surface, the brown is duller, the yellow is paler, creamier and speckled.
I suspect the diference is the use of silver chloride in Tiger which was changed to silver nitrate for creating the appearance of Marble.
The frosting would be a clue to it coming from the time after Marble was introduced.
