How consistent is the weight of Whitefriar's pieces?
« on: November 12, 2025, 01:58:42 PM »
Probably a naïve question, but just curious as to how consistent (or not) was the weight of Whitefriar's textured vases?

I have three Volcano vases (pattern 9717) whose weights vary noticeably:

ColourGramsOunces% of Tangerine
Kingfisher6712478%
Tangerine85430100%
Pewter96134112%

They're all the same size and external shape, and the textured patterns on all of them seem the same (suggesting they all came from the same mould, and probably aren't fakes). However, the "internal size" does vary: it is largest on the Kingfisher (lightest vase) and smallest on the Pewter (heaviest). This would fit with blowing from different size gathers, but is a variance of -22% to +12% expected?

Seems reasonable to me. They were probably blown by different people for a start
