Unknown Glass Bowl - can you help identify?

I was given this bowl as a gift and was told it is Whitefriars. I am pretty sure it is not, but can anyone identify or give me some idea of value?

It is approx 7 inches across and there are silver flecks in the 'bubbles'. It is very heavy too!

Many thanks.

Looks Italian to me, but I'm not sure.  I've seen a similar technique on a much larger vase in a turquoise colourway - I thought it looked really well made, as yours does too.

Thanks for your help. As I'm new to this, can you suggest the best place to try and research this (book or internet)? I'm determined to find out! :)

If you don't actually collect glass, then buying books on the subject would be a mistake I think.  Do have a look round the internet - at least that's free!

Let your posting sit here for a while, then in about a week, add a reply here yourself, asking if it can be moved to the Murano Board.  You'll get another lot of people to look at it there.   :)

Thanks Ed.  :) In Ivo Haanstra's useful book 'A-Z Glass Factfile', he doesn't give a time that IVV (Industria Vetraria Valdarnese) started production.  I suppose this bowl would be 1970's?

Max, IVV was founded in 1952. It's the largest Italian company for hand-finished blown glass but yes I would say that the item in question was made in the 70s or later. Ed.
