Lobmeyr Jug

(1/1)

lenore:
Hi Everyone,
We recently found this jug with a faded gold Lobmeyr mark. It is faceted with the most delicate enamelled flower sprays. The base is polished with oval/egg shaped cuts. The rim is gold gilded and it would not appear that there is a stopper esp. given the spout. I have know idea as to when this would have been made??? Any ideas? Late 19th century, perhaps? Any thoughts are appreciated! 8)
Thanks,
lenore

Lobmeyr are still very much in business with a magnificent three storey shop in Vienna. Should you ever get there, check out the top floor museum, it is crammed with elegant glassware like your claret jug - which could have been made @ any time.  I'm sure they'll be deligted to answer your question:
