I was just puttering on Ebay last night and saw two separate listings where there was a similar 'crown' weight. Same fat flattened canes but in orange and aqua. This time they applied the head and legs of a turtle in clear glass. Both are listed under italian glass but if they are italian I'll eat my boots.

I would love to find one that's not been made into a turtle.

I recall now having a devil of a time getting sticky price stickers off of the bottom of my Pier 1 finds. I seem to remember "Made in china" next to the bar code. It's been a while so my memory is imperfect. I didn't even remember it until last night after I had posted.

The last few times I've been in Pier 1 they have had no paperweights.

The orange-and-blue turtle appears to be nowhere near the quality of the blue-and-green crown. Defintely different levels of workmanship.

I noticed the inconsistency in quality when I bought the crown. There were several to choose from, some of which were pretty sloppy. I chose the most perfect one.

I've seen a better 'crown' turtle on ebay. I would have bought it -except for the turtle-y parts.
