Another Barbini question...
« on: October 18, 2006, 10:00:15 PM »
Barbini made so many lighters and astrays, sometimes it's hard to tell which pieces are meant to go together. I have two lighters that could go with this one ashtray and would appreciate input as to which any of you think is the best match.

Hi Bidda,
These are 100% Barbini.
I havent seen this particular shape copied by any other maker.
The copper would go with copper. I dont think teh white would make a very good match for the bowl.

Thanks, Javier... I knew you'd know! :)

I thought the copper lighter was the match till I got the white one. The inside of the bowl matches the copper one and the outside of the bowl matches the white one almost exactly... so, I wasn't sure.

Or, maybe I can just say it's a three piece set (his and hers lighters with a shared ashtray ha ha ha). ;) (forgive me, I'm in a rather silly mood tonight).

Javier, have you ever seen a match for this white lighter? I've actually got two other white with gold lighters (one probably Barbini and I suspect the other to be Seguso (I'll add pics if you or anyone else would like to see them) and have yet to see an ashtray that is done only in white with gold. One lighter is a squat, sort of half-orb shaped with a swirl of gold (I've actually seen it's twin on your website... which causes me daily to covet things I can't afford *smiles*) and another that's white, cased in a swirling, ribbed clear with gold in between (very similar to the effect on the bowl/ashtray pictured above) and have been unsucessful, thusfar, in finding their mates. If someone has seen their proper match I'll keep looking... of course, if no one has, I suppose I will still keep looking because I'm silly (read: obesessive) like that *chuckles*

Thanks,
Bidda

Hi Bidda,
I have about 7 sets both in sommerso colors and solid colors. I call the matching bowls "scroll top" bowls. I have a few extra bowls around too, without lighters. I really like how the set goes together, specially since they are together in the Barbini catalogue.
I am still looking for a bowl to math my Black and Gold lighter (same as yours). Its going to take me forever, lol.

Javier,
do you mean a black and gold Barbini one or like the ball one of the V.Nason set? 'Cause a black and gold Barbini set would be super cool. If I come across the one you're looking for, I'll pass it on. :)

Hi Bidda,
Here's a photo of the matching bowl to the lighters..
I have a few of these around. Not sure why I collected so many, lol.

This is the black lighter I was talking about...
