Strange purpley chocolate encrusted vase. Odd...
josordoni:
Thanks Pete for the extra pics too, your piece is lovely, and much better quality than mine. Also the base on yours is smooth, whereas the texture goes under mine, and your is, of course, signed.
I just thought it was an weird texture and might be of interest to someone, rather than being by a major maker. However, the finishing on the handle is not good enough for a modern chain store piece, which although cheap are actually very well finished. The top edge on one handle has been finished very roughly, which makes me also think it is not a good maker.
josordoni:
piece has sold now, and I am pleased it seems to be going to a knowledgable buyer. I have asked for their opinion on what they are buying and hope they can expand my knowledge a little (or at the very least contract my ignorance....)
Interestingly he described it as pulegoso when confirming his purchase. There are tiny bubbles when looked from the inside to the outside, that seem to be more on the inside of the coating rather than in the glass itself, but does that help anyone in deciding where it may have been made? Whilst I still have it in my possession, I would really like to get to the bottom of this so I will know what I am looking at in future.
Any further questions? Any suggestions?
