Murano Glass Opalescent Bowl & Fruit Paperwts circa 1956
« on: November 17, 2006, 05:07:20 AM »
I am requesting assistance/guidance on two pieces of Murano I purchased from an elderly lady. The lady's memory was not 100%, however it was understandable at age 85. She told me these were brought back from Italy in 1956 when she & her husband took a cruise there. Unfortunately she does not remember where in Italy/Murano. One is a set of Apple Pear bookends, which I believ may be either Barbini or Seguso, but am looking for conformation. The other is a large opalescent console bowl 12" X 12 1/2" that features dark emerald swirls embedded with gold. On the pontil is what appears to be a script "EFM" .  These are not her family initials either. Unfortunately she does not remember if both these items were purchased at the same facility, only that it was 1956. Any possible attributions are most appreciated. Thanks, Ken
