Help Please With ID pitcher wih an ice pocket
rudymobiz:
This is a large pitcher wih an ice pocket. It is 11 and 1/2 inches high and the bowl part is 20 and 1/2 inches in circumference. It has a pontil on the bottom and it also an applied handle. It is NOT blenko according to their museum curator. Does anyone have any ideas? If you click the pictures, they will get larger.
Cathy B:
My immediate impression is that it's fairly new, but I stand to be corrected.
Ivo:
Empoli 1970s with 95% probability.

Italian. Wedo a "Cool Carafe" with an ice pouch. A yooung Chinaman turned up on our factory doorstep with a sample he had bought in Corsica. Could we make it. Tony Bossi our leading Italian maker was given the task and took 2 1/2 days to solve it!
We eventually discovered that you need the suction of a small Hoover to make the pouch!
the Chinaman asked for 30 Carafes in return for his input. We have sold 1,000's since so it seemed fair to us! Even made some on the 2nd December for an open day. One wag added a red rim to pouch but it looked very rude and pretty girls went bright red when they saw it!

I have recently seen about a dozen of these in a nearby Antiques centre, and assumed they were "new" items. Emmi
