Is this a Murano dolphin table lamp base?
« on: December 19, 2006, 05:48:36 PM »
Can anyone confirm (or deny!) that this dolphin table lamp base is Murano, please? Saw a similar one listed as such on eBay, but it was withdrawn. Many thanks in anticipation, John.

I have bought this lovely table lamp base, in the form of a stylised dolphin, and would love to know if I've made a mistake or not. I think it's Murano, but can anyone confirm (or deny!) this, please? It stands about 10" tall to the top of the glass (13" including the lamp fitting) and has gold specks in the clear glass.

Have now posted new (hopefully better!) pictures here,

and there are some more at http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v519/hog-man/Dolphin%20lamp/

With many thanks in anticipation, John.

Definitely circa 1950s Murano glass.

Hi Laura,

I'm now writing the description of the lamp base in preparation for listing it on eBay. I would like to start with:

"This is a beautiful Murano glass table lamp base in the form of a stylised dolphin or fish which dates, I believe, to about the 1950’s. The pink coloured glass is cased in clear and the fins and head have gold specks in the clear glass.

(With very many thanks to Laura at the Glass Club Message Board who confirmed these details for me.)"

I want to check that you're happy with this, or would you rather I didn't use your name?

Thanks again, and have a Happy Christmas, John.

Hi John,

I don't mind your using my name, but it really isn't necessary.  :)

I wish you the best of luck with your auction. The lamp is really beautiful.

Laura
