more AHW designs

<< < (3/4) > >>

David E:
OK, I'll set up a new site. Although it'll probably follow a similar design to ChanceGlass.net, this will be for convenience to begin with. We can work on a suitable design as we progress - no rush for this. Any ideas on a colour scheme?

Domain name? ravenhead-glass.com is free. Go to www.123-reg.com and try a few combinations for yourself, if you want. We could limit it to a .co.uk, although it might be better to give it a more international feel by using a .com or .net or .org

As far as I'm concerned, this will be your site and I will just keep content fresh, as and when supplied by you.

Would it help if I took the AHW keyword off my album? All the images have AHW in the keyword section, so they'd still show up in searches. (Not that I object to your glasses showing up there, of course, Max - the more the merrier!)

Not necessary to do so Heidi, don't worry about it. Max has taken the keyword off her images so they won't sneak virtually into your album again.  ;D

I'll have another think about the keywords for GlassGallery when I have some spare time. It's nothing vital. ;)

Heidimin:
Aw shucks, David, I'm touched. No one's ever offered to build me a website before!  ;)

How about sherdley-ravenhead.com? It'd be nice to have both names in there. Do we have to worry about using the Ravenhead name, though? Rayware bought the rights to it and are using it to brand imported glassware and thermos flasks (www.rayware.co.uk). Might they object, and if so, do they have the right to stop us using it?

On colours, my favourites are the Sherdley designs which use white plus one or two other colours - maybe orange (http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-3995) and/ or blue (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330063522568)?

I'm about to disappear to the west country for a couple of weeks, but will muse over content while I'm away and then when I get back start taking a serious look at the material I've got.

BTW, Max - those glasses of yours seem to have wandered back again - time to start looking at them sternly and mouthing the word CROWBAR...? Seriously, can we use your pics on the new site when we get to that stage?

David E:
I don't mind helping out for such projects, but it will be up to you to supply me with the necessary graphic and text. But it will be your site, not mine  :)

I did also think about unitedglass.com for the domain, but this won't work well with the search spiders, so the rather cumbersome sherdley-ravenhead.com is best in this respect. I can't think Rayware will complain if I provide a link to their site, and I'll make sure the name is properly trademarked.

I'll try a 'retro' (oops, that term again) orange and sky blue design on white, but we can pick this up again in the New Year.

I also sent you a mail about the menu structure, but there's no rush on this. Have a nice Christmas!

Very much so! But a polite request directly to their press office and chairman might get you a gratis approval which will also help later with accesss to records. Always offer to provide links to their designated site with all material.
