Topic: Cased vase - ID = probably Avon

Hi.
Here are items I picked up this morning from a charity shop. Help in identifying would be appreciated. The vase is actually over cased red, if thats the correct term, probably not.

For some reason I want to say that the Honey Amber Overlay piece is made by Fenton Art Glass for Avon. But I can't find it in my books and the drugs are making my brain fuzzy as to where I know this from

Ah I see. Would it have contained some perfume or the like then Connie and if so would there have been some sort of stopper?

I am not absolutely sure that I am correct in that attribution.  I looked for it yesterday and could not find the piece in my books.  But I know that I have seen it.

Avon pieces aren't all filled with perfumes, powders etc.  They sold/sell strictly decorative pieces also. Or it coulld have had a cardboard stick on lid similar to old milk bottles. It doesn't look like it had a stopper and the piece I am remembering was a vase.

I've just seen an identical vase to yours in a local charity shop. It's a very strange piece, the coloured casing layer appears to be some form of plastic or resin over a milk glass body, not a technique I've seen before. As to maker, I can't offer any further suggestions. This example was also unmarked and didn't look to have ever had a stopper.

I've seen the same thing Steven, a sort of plasticky coating.  That's what I thought of when I first saw this item actually.   I think Bryn would have mentioned this in his initial posting though...is it all glass Bryn?

If it is plastic then it is NOT Fenton.  Now that you mention the others, didn't we have one posted on here with a thin red coating?

Hi Everyone,
Oops and oops again . I occasionally price some items for a charity shop and the vase was one of them.  I actually took the vase home to take the photo and seek your valuable advice before returning it to the shop. The shop is closed over the weekend so I will take another look on Monday.

If you hold your plastic piece to the light you will see the AVON mark moulded into the bottom...
