Question on Kings Crown

(1/1)

adrian44:
Does anyone know how to tell the difference in the Kings Crown made by Adams, Tiffin and Indiana please?

Anne:
Hmmm good question. Perhaps this site may help with the basics... http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/5968/ although others on the board may have more info to add, of course.

Cathy B:
That website doesn't have much on differentiation - I went through it some time ago and it doesn't seem to have changed in that respect. This website helps more:
http://www.geocities.com/MadisonAvenue/Boardroom/5685/about_frame.html

If I've read the site correctly, if it has circular thumbprints, it's definitely Indiana, and if the thumbprints are elongated, then it may be early Indiana, but is probably Tiffin. Like Gene Florence (in Florence's Glassware Pattern Identification Guide), it only lists Tiffin and Indiana as makers. Is Tiffin the continuation of the Adams company?
It might help to go through the pictures here:

Connie, Mike, Sid or Glen can probably correct this if it's wrong.

Connie:
Hi Adrian -

The shape of the thumbprints, the number of the thumbprints, the number of mould lines and the color all help differentiate the makers.

If I get a little time later today, I will try to write a guideline.

Do you have any specific questions or pieces that you are trying to idenitfy?
