I know nothing about your vase but I wanted to tell you that I think your photos came out fabulous 

Thanks Connie - Dencill gave a tip in the photo tips (see the thread at the top of this forum about putting your pictures up, there is a link to his page there) about putting a black card or paper to one side out of shot when you are taking pics against a light background.  I've started to do that, and whilst it doesn't always work, I think with this one it has come out wonderfully.

 I am very chuffed with the results.

Thanks Max, they might be burst bubbles, I'll have a look closely through the glass in the daylight tomorrow.  Though I think these are just wear and tear nicks - wearing rings whilst washing up probably causes quite a few little nicks too.

Very interesting proposition that these might be burst bubbles or damage caused on grinding.  There is also one tiny round nick on the outside of each of three of the corners, and there are certainly some loose bubbles in the sides of the glass, so it is possible. 

I guess I would still class it as damage though.
