Please, tell me what you think about Ukrainian (Lviv city) hand blown glass?
As I know, this glass made in old murano lampworking technique.

Welcome to the board. If you would like to promote your glass sales please use the Glass Market Place (not the Glass forum).  Thank you.

Is it being produced by homeworkers or in a glassworks? What is the glassworks? Why use the term Murano, it devalues what you sell as being an imitation of Murano instead of good Ukrainian work. Collectors need information as well as aesthetics so do tell more please.

I do'nt only wish to advertise my glass, first of all opinion of experts is interesting to me, as not so many people in the world know about Ukrainian glass.
This glass made by small groups of ukrainian artists in old European Lviv city.
I know, this is not maked in Murano, but used technique is identical, and roots of their skill conduct to Murano artists who began glass manufacturing in Lviv.

Thank you for explaining more about your glass. So are you saying that it is made in small workshops with a few people, or do lampworkers work alone as they often do in the UK?

Yes it's made in small workshops with a few people, but every lampworker alone make only some kinds of self-designed figurines.

The figures are good enough and it would be better to associate them with the actual makers names, it makes them more attractive to collectors. Look at the discussions on this board, collectors want to know who designs and who makes the glass. It is what gives glass a personality, makes it collectable and separates it from cheap mass market goods.

Selling them as Murano copies, that is the impression I get from the title - another eBay seller sells Murano St Petersburg figures from Russia, only puts off collectors and leaves you only in the 'gift' market. You will also find lots of discussions by collectors annoyed at the misuse of the word Murano. As to glass figures, most of the lampworked 'older' glass on eBay is not Murano as claimed.

My comments would be:

a)take out the words Rare and Murano.  These aren't going to help to differentiate your work.

b)as Frank says, brand each individual artist. Get them to initial their work, put short biographies on each individual artist on your listings and push these as hand made art glass, not mass produced.

Don't forget that in times to come it will be the signed and identifiable items that will accrue value, not generic items.  Start creating your brand now.

Thank you very much!

Lynne
