Title: Pink Glass - Staffordshire figures
Post by: Simba on July 31, 2012, 02:16:33 PM
I recently found and bought these glass Staffordshire figures on Ebay and was intrigued, has anyone any idea who made them. They are a solid pink glass with traces of gold decoration. I can find only one other similar Staffordshire spill vase in the same colour on the internet and the Auction house was also clueless as to there maker . Any ideas ?

You sometimes see a pink fishy jug like these. His mouth is the spout and tail the handle

Thanks Christine, that's interesting but I have never seen them either. But I have just been reading in Raymond Slacks book about Sowerby's Vitro-porcelain and when I read a bit more on pressedintime.com Sowerby page they mention 'altering the colour of their ruby slag glass to make it more pink and called it Rose Opalescent. I wonder if this is it ?

No, I don't think so. And they're all mould blown not pressed I think. Here's one (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item3cc6bff91e&item=261032507678&nma=true&pt=UK_Art_Glass&rt=nc&si=c7jwXJbRkhy%252FkXRVvzMMFCsjIws%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc)
