I believe Zbigniew Horbowy designed for both.

Scandinavian Glass / Orrefors bowl
« Last post by Keith Mick on Today at 03:02:16 PM »
Does anyone recognize this cut glass bowl. It's roughly square ish in top down view and has a series of vertical V cuts running down the outside. It has "Orrefors" marked on the base. There seems to be at least some age to it because the base is quite heavily scratched. My searches have so far proved fruitless so any help with years of manufacturer, designer, pattern number etc, would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Keith

Thanks Greg,
Had no idea that such a thing existed - would that have any links to Sudety Glassworks or do you think it is just crossed wires?
Many thanks,
Marie.

I suspect that reference refers to Barbara Glassworks Poland.

Hi Vickie, It's a specific design number, however, I'm afraid I can't help beyond that.

Hi,
Update - checked image that came up which seemed to be the same design, went to a Polish site (grayed out as sold, so couldn't double check) Listed as Zbigniew Horbowy, Sudety Glassworks, also had Barbara??? in title - would that be Barbara Banas' book?

Just looked a Poland section where this glassblower mentioned, but all seemed to be 70's very striking designs, unlike this one - does anyone have the book to check it out?
Many thanks for any help,
Marie.

Hi Vickie,

The C"G mark is a Caithness Glass mark, indicating that the weight is a second.

Hope this helps

Glass / Re: Cut lead crystal flower or hyacinth bulb vase for ID please

In my Phelps Warren, plate 85A shows a vase very similar to yours in shape although the top part is more cylindrical. It is 7 inches tall and he calls it a hyacinth vase. It does look like a decanter body and neck but there is no mention of it being a decanter, just a hyacinth vase. Lucky the top survived, should think these are genuinely rare.
