I've now posted 7 paperweights asking for help and I really want to return the favor. I know American glassware real well so if anyone has any that needs Iding let me know! :)

Hi Cat,
Maybe you could have a look at this thread for new member Kathy. Pictures are on the second page.

Many thanks.

:D Working on that one as we speak :D

Don't worry there's plenty of American glass that appears on the board. You just have to keep looking, it's not always apparent from the title or from the location of the poster. Don't worry no-one gets thrown off for not helping

In the past I have posted a couple of ABP bowls here, but didn't get definite ID's for the patterns. Can you help with ABP? I'd love to know if these patterns have names, and if the makers can be identified, and whether they really are old or are newer copies.
I'll put the pics in my gallery, 'cos they were probably tinypic before, and long gone!

The last one is so sharp, it feels as if you could cut your fingers picking it up! And it's heavy!
Thanks :D

Leni, I'm just learning ABP myself and I'm waiting on a book I ordered, I'll do what I can and will return to it later as I learn more :)
Right now it's heads down to working before I go off to a morris dance gig But I'll work on all these as soon as I get home tonight.

Hi, Cat. I just joined the board needing an ID on some pitchers, supposedly early Fenton. My thread is here. We don't need values or anything, just curious to know if it actually IS Fenton. Thanks for looking.
My Thread (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,6653.0.html).

Leni ~ I'm working on those bowls, cut glass is a toughie to ID will let you know as soon as I find anything.
SAORSA~ No idea sorry, I did some hunting around but came up with nothing
Tony~ That's not an American pattern I've ever had the pleasure of seeing in a book or handling, If i had to hazard a guess I'd look in the English direction, possibly Davidson? The siggie was made for me, I wish I knew how! lol
Bug~ see your thread I posted over there, Fenton i'm pretty darn good with so let me know if you've any other questions.
Did I leave anyone out??

Tony - I doubt your bowl is English, certainly not Davidson. If not US, then I think we've speculated that patterns like these are French or Belgian. I'd post it in a seperate thread, or if you already have give it a bump :D
-
Cat and Christine
Thank you for your help I have posted this to a new thread with links to both pieces of glass.

Thanks, Cat![/quote]

Tony ~ Your second bowl is Expanding Star, done by a few companies I think it's Canadian though some might say Libbey.
Bug ~ Your welcome :)

Cat
I am not sure which bowl , the two pieces one in jade glass and one in clear glass both have the same pattern.
I have done a search for Expanding Star came up empty.

Leni: Your bowl is cut in a Harvard pattern, there were several companies that cut this type of pattern. Finding the right company is the key, I haven't found that key yet. #2 picture I'm not 100 percent sure but I think I have a match the pattern is called "Star" by the Ideal Cut Glass Company. They were located out of Corning, NY and Canastota, NY. You're #1 piece, I 've seen that kind of leaf cut before, in fact I had some salt dips that I gave away as a present a few years ago. I'll try and contact them, maybe I had identified this and told them what the pattern was. Hope this helps!!

Thanks very much for that Cat :D
Gwion, I've seen something very like that on a thread very recently, but I can't remember what it was. Sorry, but I'm a bit 'off colour' at the moment. :(
-
Hi Gwion,
i've seen a number like this around recently and though i don't know for sure i've always assumed they were italian.

Hi Cat,
That is so nice of you, want to give this set a try? The tray is 9" long and the sugar and creamers are 2.50 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter. The bottom ring are grounded beautifully.
Thanks
Bear :-)

Leni: Your #2 bowl, Catisfaction is correct in the pattern name Expanding Star. Libbey is your glassmaker!! If you go to woodyauction.com and look at lot number 154 I think you'll see a match to your pattern. There is another expanding star that is going up for auction, lot number 47, but you'll see that its not an exact match.

Thanks very much to both Cat & Nancy! :D

Leni~ You're Welcome, Still looking around at the other pieces.
Bear~ ((((Hugs))) Fancy seeing you here! Unfortunately I've still no idea who made the C&S ;)
