Title: Copy Festivo Candlesticks
Post by: Pip on May 15, 2008, 08:39:13 PM
I couldn't find the thread on here but not that long ago there was a discussion about the copy Iittala 'Festivo' candlesticks and who made them.  The bone-fide Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala candlesticks are, as most of you know, easy to tell apart from the copy ones however I still see sellers on eBay attempting to sell the copies as originals.

The originals have uneven, mishapen disks whereas the copies have perfectly circular disks and usually a very obvious seam line (plus of course the glass is totally inferior to the Iittala candlesticks).

Anyway, the point of this thread is to say that the other day hubby and I saw one of these copies in a charity shop with a red foil label on it which said, in gold lettering, 'Made in Taiwan'.  So that's where those horrid things come from!
