Hi everyone,
Can you help me with this bonbon jar/vessel, it is a shade under 11"/28cm tall.
I call it a bonbon jar as I remember one as a child that had little round white sweets in it.
The 1st question, is it opaline or alabastro? I'm still not sure but lean towards alabasto, maybe the colour is confusing me.
The 2nd Q, does anyone recognise the label, I can't find it in the lists I have, I did wonder if it was one of the Seguso's.
the 3rd Q, the little crinkle marks at the base of the "finial ?" spike at the top of the lid.
the photo has magnified these as from a few inches away you can't see them.
are they something that one would count as damage. To me, because of their size they don't matter, but would the jar pass the perfectionist test ? Probably not.
Would this have happened in the anneiling oven ?

For my 2 cents - I haven't seen the label before, but the scalloped edge reminds me of other labels used on Archimede Seguso glass, and with the initials A.S.G. around the centre, I think it must be likely. I'm sure someone will know for sure.
I would mention the crinkles as a possible manufacturing flaw, not really sure if it's "normal" or not, I'd assume not though.
As for opaline or alabastro, will probably need to wait for one of the Murano experts for that one too. Most alabastro I've seen tends to fade from a colour (such as pink, green or blue) to a creamy white, so if it's all the same colour I'd probably go for opaline...

I thought alabastro had some hint of white swirl in it somewhere. I think your vase is opale (Italian) or Opaline.

Definitely Opaline but is it A.S.? I haven't seen the label or a piece like this he made before either. These are apothecary vases I think.
What does it say at the top? It appears to end in a 'Y'. Maybe a more modern label of A.S.
A must for the labels library. Mods.

yes it says ITALY at the top,
the three letters in the middle around what appears to be a goblet, G, A, S.
there was a Seguso with the initial G but I don't think its likely.

A truly lovely piece and Opaline Blue is definitely one of my favourite colours. Obvioulsy, you can have Opaline White, Red whatever you can find. It is just a more difficult process to master
