Signature is Bertil Vallien.

Hi Ivo thanks for that, was also looking for information on it, can you tell when it was made, I have googled the name and looks like a good glass maker, but not finding anything like how to date it.
-
That's a nice bowl, Cazza!
I think Bertil Vallien is one of the best but I'm biased; I have several of his pieces ;)
The scarab as part of the signature dates it, I think, to the late sixties. I'm certain that one of the experts here will be able to come with a closer date..

These bowls were introduced circa 1966 and are often seen with a blue inner lining, the design was drawn/trailed onto the inside of the bowl with I believe a resin resist, then sandblasted back leaving the design standing proud (and blue if cased). I dont know how long they were produced for...maybe into the early 70s...

Hi all, the pattern is on the outside, there was another one on sale at the same time as this one it had the same markings/signature a different pattern with a blue bit in the pattern, I liked that one as well, but could not afford both, i got this one as i liked it better. I had no idea of its worth and just bought it on instinct.

Same technique in reverse ;) ;D

May I just add that the label reads
BODA Ã…fors (and not BODA Alfors)
-
Thanks Ingela - didn't notice that. :hiclp: Cazza, I've changed your main title to read Afors, just so people can find this thread when searching. :)

Thank you to all who have helped me :-)
