I was hoping that someone may recognise this small vase, Would the unusual shape be just decorative or would it have had some practical function. Foot is marked with capital M in a circle. Inside of vase is vertically ribbed whist outside is smooth. 4 1/4 inches tall x 2 3/4 inches wide. All suggestions appreciated John

Probably for toothpicks . Long ones ;D or sticks for stabbing olives . I bet Ivo will come along and say ciggies . ;)

A similar mark is shown on butchiedog's page by New Martinsville... http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=butchiedog_gone_it
Just a thought.

Definately a cigarette holder for the coffee table, 30's. We see them from time to time in the malls & most U.S. companies made them for years.
