Title: Stopper stuck in decanter
Post by: marqueone on October 12, 2013, 09:08:28 AM
I have an Edinburgh crystal decanter. 3 quarters full of cheap Spanish brandy. The stopper has stuck in the neck. I have tried hot water, warm olive oil, but no avail. Any solutions will be tried.  Marqueone.

Difficult one! I assume the brandy does not need to be saved, (given you have already tried oil) but that the decanter does.

Do your kitchen worktops have a wooden edge - or do you have a table with a wooden edge? Sometimes, tapping the stopper very gently all around on a "soft" edge (such as wood) can loosen it.

Did the olive oil seep between the sides of the stopper and the neck of the decanter?

If you don't want to save the brandy try WD40 much finer oil than olive oil it has worked for me in the past
