I'd bet any money they're uranium!  Try looking at them in bright sunlight (if you get any!  LOL  >:D) especially at dawn or sunset.  The UV in sunlight should give you sufficient of a 'glow' to see that they do contain uranium.

I'd have money on uranium too. Maplin's do a key ring UV light (L89AJ). No idea who made them.

Or check out stationary and toy shops for security pens or secret writing/spy pens - invisible ink one end, UV light the other. Useful for security marking items or keeping the kids occupied as well! :)

Some of us (not just me) never go anywhere without them  :-[

Tiny, inexpensive battery operated UV lights are always for sale on eBay.  I keep my key ring type in a little tube, as they're not exactly robust.  I hate to be without it.  Not all that glitters is uranium glass.

I had a pen version but it kept falling apart ...

Didn't Portia's suitor open the vaseline box and read All that glisters is not uranium, much to his disappointment?

He should have checked it first with his UV tester from Quicktest (http://www.quicktest.co.uk/acatalog/For_UV__ultraviolet__and_Radiation_.html).

Thanks, fm, for the feed — I couldn't miss the opportunity!

ps Quicktest stocks Matheau-Raven (EPNS mark identifier).   George Mappin, EPNS, Foulsham Dealer Guides, is superior.   And that's my only criticism of the Quicktest range.

Hi All
Managed to get UV light's today  while out buying glass again, which i will post in a jiff. nice piece of Doulton. back to the light's the little touch type was £2.99 quite powerful for its size the others were 50p both from Hooty's but there may not be one by you, whole sale store anyway.

Bernard thanks for the link though. Still trying to find the maker and when?

When is relatively easy – probably sometime between 1930 and 1945 ish. Possibly, but not necessarily Czech
