Hello again
Since I had such astounding help on my last post. I am posting a second request for information.
I bought this lovely swan in an auction about 3-4 year ago, basically because I liked it. I did notice a name on the base when viewing and I thought I could find the name of the maker. After searching the web and buying and obtaining from the Library many books, I am still unable to identify the maker. I think one of my main problems is that I can't read the signature.
I am sure somebody more experienced than myself will recognise the name. I think the initials are M S and the name is Italian but that is as far as I have got.

Marcolin (Sweden). I don't know what the second line actually says. Third line could be a design number.
A search on the Board for "Marcolin swan" will find similar signatures.

Thank you KevinH
So if the first word is Marcolin, could the second be "sverige" swedish for sweden. I had assumed that it was the whole name of the artist so I have been looking for an artist with a surname begining with M and the forename with M.
Having now briefly found more information on this company I assume the D71 or D41 is the pattern number and the 15 is either the number of items produced or the 15th item.
Thanks very helpful.

The second word might be Sardinia... Benito and Josef Marcolin made glass there for a short while in the early 1990's. But it could just as easily read Sweden... they are not always easy to read! :(
Here is a link to one very similar to your swan.

Thank you rosieposie
After being informed that the name was Marcolin, I did some reasearch I knew they had returned to Italy, but did not realise that the Marcolin brothers had set up in Sardinia.
The swan you showed me looks a lot nicer than mine.
