Title: Ernst Buder 510 in green?
Post by: theElench on March 24, 2018, 07:30:53 AM
I bought this atomiser on ebay to add to my Uranium glass collection, the glass is in great condition but the metal top is not so good.  The tri-angular bit with the nozzle is different to the six-sided versions shown on other sets, so I assume this is not original and has been added because the original was damaged.  It doesn't sit horizontally and looks like the "turret" has been squashed down on one side.

This is the only atomiser I have so don't know how they were put together.  I would like to clean the metal a bit and hopefully make it look better.  Can anyone tell me if the top is threaded and removable or glued on?  At the moment it won't move and has a white line around the joint.

Are other Buder atomiser tops Chrome, which might benefit from a clean and polish, or some other metal that has worn away, in which case polishing would make it worse by exposing more of the base metal below.

Oooh!  Now isn't this interesting?  It appears to be the same pattern as the pink one posted here
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,66673.0.html but the catalogue only shows clear and clear/flashed.

It looks very much like colours were also made as well but they aren't mentioned in the 1960 catalogue.
