I've come across this vase on Saleroom, sold at Fieldings and attributed to Stevens and Williams. Ignoring the attribution for the moment, the design matches my vase: the textured branches, the leaves and even the butterfly appears to be the same.
So I wondered if anyone has any thoughts on the Fieldings vase and whether this might bring us closer to an identification of both?

Would it have sat in something? A silver/plated stand perhaps? It just looks a bit odd without a proper base of its own.

Looks late Victorian English and probably a master salt at that size.

is there a polished pontil mark on the base?

The colour and effect reminds me of Cristallerie Saint-Louis. (possibly also Val St. Lambert maybe but I'd be searching Saint-Louis if it were mine).

This small, footed vase measures 11 cms tall x 7.5 at top and base. Lead crystal, polished pontil, acid cut raised decoration of fruiting branches and butterflies.
2-tone colour - green  fading down to clear. It's not uranium glass. I wondered about Moser, but couldn't find anything similar anywhere.
Does anyone have any thoughts on maker?

Thanks
Ian

Glass / I.D.- Scandinavian/ Iittala - vintage item

Hi,

Took a gamble on this piece, arrived today.
It's reminiscent of Alvar Aalto- Savoy, but the shape is somewhat different.
At first I was excited thinking it was Helena Tynell- Sokkelo. However there are no prisms of colours in the glass.

Does anyone recognise this design please?
Is it of any significance or a heavy piece of art glass.
It has been in the same family, since early 70's.

Any comments or advice will be most welcome.

Glass / Victorian bowl?
« Last post by Keith Mick on Yesterday at 03:14:40 PM »
Hi,
Found this optically moulded bowl with an applied green glass rim. Around the waist is a pinched glass rigory.
It's hand blown with a polished pontil on the base. Approx 10.5cm across the rim and 7cm high.
Think it may be a posey bowl as there's a slight internal lip, could have seated a mesh frog, but equally may have had a glass lid originally or nothing at all!!!
Any help with ID, date etc appreciated,
Cheers
Keith M

Hi,
Vermicular pattern was also used on frosted tableware by Richardsons. But it may have been imitated by others.
This is shaped like a jelly glass.
Nice find

Just been digging through the archives here for "vermicular pattern" (much better than "squiggly" - cheers Steven) and came across this jug and vase by Richardson where the design registration 1854 says" "This pattern upon all kinds of table glass."
So I guess it's fair to assume this glass was part of their tableware.

And curtesy of Scottish Antiques who sold some: "The vermicelli design was first registered by Benjamin Richardson on 24th August 1854, No 96703. The design continued to be used for forty years."

Here's another interesting example of needle etched glass, albeit in a different style: https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,73899.0.html
