Title: Australian - dichroic & lampwork figures. ID = Marc Kalifa, Australia
Post by: misha on January 01, 2015, 11:43:37 AM
First paperweight I purchased in 1992.
Definitely Australian maker because it came from a gallery exhibiting their works in Glebe - Sydney.
I don't think it was a Sydney based artist... possibly Nth Coast NSW.
Wasn't the best pwt available at the time, didn't have the funds for a larger 'sister' with better defined  dichroic element and lampwork figures. Still interesting.
Also purchased a mushroom sculpture [ex No.1 has it] I think made by same artist.

I've used yellow colour pencil to highlight engraved signature.

Lost receipt long ago defining artist, ID help now would be most appreciated.
I'm on a mission to catalogue all in collection/accumulation, and sell excess to needs.

Pontil scar area is flame polished and pressed in, presenting not unlike the top of an apple.

Marc Kalifa of Maleny in Queensland. See the thread below for a couple of other examples of his paperweights and signatures:
