Title: Chance Glass Calypto pattern
Post by: Pat on February 03, 2007, 10:46:11 AM
I know pretty well nowt about Chance glass. I have a Calypto fluted edge plate and was going to list it on ebay. However I notice a couple of small chips in the rim. Is it worth it? i.e. is it common and a throw away piece.

Calypto is very common, Pat, and chips will do little to help its value. Earlier patterns (pre-c.1965) were not silk-screened printed and have a very light, blue-grey finish to the pattern. It is also difficult to feel the pattern when running your finger over the surface.

Anne might be interested in it.

Well it can be had for the cost of post and packing otherwise it's going in the bin.

Aww Pat, don't put it in the bin!  Chipped items are useful for comparisons and flower pot stands if nothing else.  :D  I even have smashed items saved here if the pattern is useful, or I just can't bear to throw them away!  I'm a sucker for poorly glass.  ::)
