Title: 'Untidy' odd looking Scottish weight
Post by: chriscooper on August 28, 2014, 10:45:12 PM
Thought maybe early Perthshire but the colours are a bit 'loud' maybe strathearn.
Looks out of proportion small ground with far too much casing and untidy canes someone had a bad day maybe?
Photos from phone not very good it was getting late will add some more tomorrow if required.

Hi.  I think it is most likely to be a Strathearn product.

I probably agree with Alan with  "likely Strathearn".

What is the base finished like? I can't tell from the photo. Is it ground or fire polished?

The canes in the outer row are ones I don't think I have seen before. Having said that, maybe several weights will come to light soon which show those canes to be "early Ysart"!! (But I don't think this weight is "Ysart".)

Thank you both for looking. I just thought it was a little different from normal Strathearn I see, the grey tint to the glass the dome looks over done and how the the canes are set and a couple I could not find? thought the ground looked small and an unusual colour ?  maybe all that casing? the base is smooth fire polished.
