Title: Hand Painted Sherry Glasses With "P" Signature
Post by: Roobarb on May 11, 2021, 11:16:23 AM
Hello, these look quite old and the design is somewhat worn. I just wondered if anyone recognised the style at all or the "P" signature? Many thanks :)

They look to have been cold painted by a hobbyist to me.

Thank you Lustrousstone :) They are quite rustic!

;) Your rusticism might well just float away in some warm water.
I agree with Christine, it looks like somebody got hold of some cold glass paints.
They're not the easiest of things to get on the glass evenly, they do go a bit lumpy and streaky.
Been there. Got the lumps and streaks.  ;D

I don't think they were painted particularly recently; that looks like vintage cold enamel rather than modern glass paint. It lasts surprisingly well if it's not wetted or rubbed

My own attempts were about 20 years ago; I was unaware of cold enamel paints being available before that - but you know a lot more than I do about older glass.  ;D  :-*
