John is delighted to announce the safe arrival of his Conference paperweight, at 20.50 on January 4th 2006. Both are doing well.
A photograph of the new arrival is attached though I am sure it will look better in natural light.

Thank you very much :D
Now I just have to wait until mine eventually turns up :?

Very nice. The classical vase looks as if it has an oriental influence....Ming dynasty perhaps? :D

Although it is rather frustrating to have to wait what seems a long time for weights that were ordered in August last year, this sort of thing is (unfortunately) not uncommon in the paperweight world.
In June 2002, along with many paperweight club members, I placed an order for examples of three of the very first "Phoenix" (ex-Perthshire workers) weights. It was many many, months before I, and at least a few others, received ours. In fact, by the time I did receive them, I could have bought the same items from several dealers and also through eBay! Mine are inscribed with the year 2002 and are numbers 41, 54 & 56 each of an edition of 75. I wonder if the remaining weights in those editions were actually made before the Phoenix company closed?
Anyway, looking at the setting of the flowers, leaves and stems in Peter's bouquet-in-vase weight, they are really good and equal to the best I have seen of Paul Ysart's work. That design is very difficult to control and also to obtain a pleasing balance of colour and shape. So, even with the wait, I am really looking forward to mine - whenever it comes.

Erm ...... Has anybody else received theirs yet? :?
Any more news from Alice? :?

Contacted Peter today. A problem has arisen with a piece of machinery which I think he called a pot. He bought a new one at a cost of £900 and it has ceased to work. As a result of this he won't be able to do any production work for 2 weeks. I will contact him again in a few weeks. He tells me that a couple of people have been in touch with him recently

Spoke to Peter once more. He's still soldiering on with conference weights.
Since I was beginning to worry about current situation I spoke to Don who attended conference and recently visited Peter. His update was that Peter had difficulty in obtaining blue colouring for the vase in the weight. Once he obtained the colouring he completed lampwork but on firing or cooling the differnt colour textures caused cracks so it was back to thedrawing board. I feel sure that we will get a really nice paperweight from a perfectionist but am sorry for the delay. Hope we are all happy to be patient for a while longer
