Title: A clear and amber flashed trinket set – ID, please.
Post by: agincourt17 on March 07, 2014, 10:07:28 AM
A trinket set of clear glass flashed with amber.

(Permission for the re-use of the first image on the GMB granted by happypantry, the others granted by ageukbarrow)

The irregular octagonal tray is ornately decorated with a cut or imitation-cut pattern; the base has a broad-rayed sunburst amber star with the panels between decorated with a ‘busy’ pattern around a large octagonal ‘button’ of fine diamond cuts.

The small trinket dish closely matches the tray.

The flattened body of each candlestick is on the form of a ‘ray’ similar to that on the tray base, but flanked on each side with a ‘wing’ decorated with a trio of small ‘buttons’ or hobnails in the manner of those on the tray base.

The body and lid of the matching pot are decorated in matching style, and the pot lid has a tall tapered octagonal finial.

Comments, suggestions or ID gratefully received, please?

Fred.

A clear part set in the same pattern, plus a small pot with a silver lid decorated with a dragonfly (which I suspect is a non-matching piece).

Me too.

I wonder if this may be an Ernst Buder design as we have similar designs and patterns in their 1960 catalogue... ? Needs more research to confirm though.
